Confederate Dog River Calvary Saber

DR4011. here's a fantastic find, a dug Confederate dog river cavalry saber in very good condition, it was recovered in the the dry, sandy Texas soil and is in much better shape than most dug pieces, the brass guard has the crude features we like to see, the quillon has a slight, intentional forward push, there is a small crack in the top of the pommel cap that looks more like a casting flaw than damage, the blade is the correct 33.5" long but when dug the lower 7.5" was broken off and has been professionally repaired, this section was left intentionally smooth so you can easily see where the original blade ends, the blade has the classic Southern unstopped fuller, it is mainly smooth with only very slight pitting from being in the dry soil, overall a great Confederate saber that is very affordable due to the repair
