EW1001. Model 1840 heavy cavalry saber in great shape, the blade is full length and free of any nicks or damage, the ricasso is stamped 1864 and the obverse is stamped D F C, it has much of the original bright finish showing but has begun to brown, it fits tight to the hilt which is also in great shape, it has the original leather wrap and wire braid, the brass guard has a mellow attic patina, the quillon has been intentionally bent forward, the scabbard is free of any dents or damage, it also shows most of it's original finish but has begun to brown also and has a slightly bronze looking patina, great looking saber
